Your Core and Labor Progression

A functionally strong core holds the uterus up and aligned with the birth canal. When the baby is positioned directly over the cervix each contraction effectively places pressure evenly on the cervix allowing it to thin and soften. A steady progression in labor is directly impacted by the position of the baby. One of the functions of your core is to support that progression. This lesson unpacks what needs to happen and how to best provide that core support.

Connect to your core BEFORE labor. Spend a little time every day doing some abdominal massage, belly breaths and focus on sitting and standing tall. Your core needs some intentional attention so you know what it needs to do at the birth.
