Core and Optimal Fetal Alignment

Optimal fetal alignment refers to most effective way for the baby to journey through the maternal pelvis and birth canal. It also refers to the best position to eliminate excess strain on the mothers low back and abdominal wall and how the baby aligns with the cervix in labor. The transverse abdominis wraps around the torso and helps support the uterus in optimal fetal alignment. Functional core weakness can impact this alignment and create complications in pregnancy and labor. This lessons helps you better understand this relationship.

Align your bowls. The transverse abdominis is most effective with the rib cage “bowl” and the pelvic “bowl” are aligned with each other like 2 halves of and Easter egg. To create opportunities for your core to build the functional strength it needs for optimal fetal alignment you want to align those bowls as much as possible.
