About Miranda Anderson

While training to become a licensed massage therapist in 2018, a seed was planted in my heart to care for pregnant and postpartum moms. I received specialized training in prenatal massage and craniosacral therapy and went on to work for The Tummy Team, an international online physical therapy clinic specializing in diastasis recti and functional core training, where my passion for serving mothers grew even more. In 2023, I went on to train with New Beginnings Doula Training to become a doula while also training with The Tummy Team to become a Tummy Team Trained Birth Professional. Historically, women have been attended and supported by other women during labor and birth. However in many countries, as more women are giving birth in hospital rather than at home, continuous support during labor has become the exception rather than the norm. Continuous support from a doula has been shown to increase emotional support, enhance physical support, improve communication and advocacy, increase satisfaction with their birth experience, reduce rates of interventions, and enhance postpartum support in mothers. I believe every woman deserves this kind of care and should be given opportunity to have the birth experience they desire. Every birth is a miracle from God and should be treated as such.
